In 2009, more than 2 million tons of electronics were ready for end-of-life disposal, but only 25 percent of those tons were collected for recycling, according to HR Green, a program of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission that promotes environmental responsibility among residents in 16 cities and counties in southeastern Virginia.
